Product Introduction
The casing drill bit fractures the formation through rotary cutting or impact and is rigidly connected to the casing string via mechanical or hydraulic mechanisms, allowing the casing to be run into the hole synchronously with the drilling process.
Its core advantages lie in:
● Integrated Operation: It combines the traditional "drilling → casing running" processes into a single operation, reducing tripping time and well control risks.
● Wellbore Stability: The casing provides real-time support to the wellbore wall, effectively preventing collapse, especially suitable for loose and fractured formations.
● Trajectory Control: Centralizers and guide mechanisms ensure concentricity between the casing and the borehole, reducing the risk of well deviation and eccentricity.
A casing drill bit typically consists of the following parts
● Cutting mechanism: This includes PDC composite blades, roller cones, or cutting teeth, selected based on formation hardness. For example, diamond composite blades are used in hard rock formations, while milling roller cones are used in soft rock formations.
● Guiding and stabilizing device: Such as vanes, floats, or stabilizing rings, these stabilize the drill bit's position within the hole and reduce wobbling.
Connection system: This rigidly connects to the casing string via special threads or locking mechanisms, transmitting torque and drill pressure.
● Spring chuck chamber: The spring chuck chamber is a key component of the outer casing assembly, typically made of high-strength alloy steel, and internally designed with specific conical surfaces or slot structures.
● Spring chuck assembly: The spring chuck assembly is part of the inner casing assembly and mainly includes the spring chuck clamp, tension spring, and recovery tube.
● Salvage device: A salvage device is a specialized device used in drilling, exploration, underwater operations and other scenarios to retrieve dropped objects or tools. Its core function is to accurately grasp and release the target object through mechanical, hydraulic or magnetic means.
